Wingspan :   M & F, 7.5-9mm.

Confusion species

Many species of Phyllonorycter are extremely similar, great care should be given when separating these species. It is often impossible to separate the adults of some species.

Wherever the foodplant is found.

Beech.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaf. Larva forms a mine from the midrib to the leaf edge. Pupates in a fragile white silken cocoon formed within the mine.
